I prioritize certain objects over others and like to surround myself with the selected items. It is interesting to me how we choose certain objects over others and how we find reasons to justify this. A process of selection and why we feel more attached to one thing over the other. Whenever I navigate myself through the world, I find little worlds in for example leaves, stones, papers, twigs and can get quite carried away with it. It is something I have been doing since my childhood which I tried to get rid of back then, but through my art I feel more free to embrace that part of me and use it as a tool to create.

Verzameld is a Dutch word and translates to the word “collected”. This installation was included in a group exhibition (ROOM) I was part of in Kyoto, Japan in 2020.
