A small screenprint about the beauty in the melancholic tones of loss. That loss is implemented into the print as impermanence as well since the ink used is sensitive to temperature. When you touch or hold the piece, the ink will dissappear and uncover the crows, changing its ways to the warmth of those who decide to approach.
Mono no aware (物の哀れ) literally translates to thing (mono) and sad sentiment (aware). This comes together as: the melancholy or pathos of things. A cherry blossom tree is often used as an iconic example to describe this sensation. They are in bloom for a very brief moment before inevitably they lose their petals. The end of the bloom and the petals that fall evoke a sense of awe, a feeling of being in the presence of something sacred or profound. Yet there is also a clear melancholic tone. But one that resonates in a certain beauty. An appreciation for transience that I can relate to so very well and express in many of my works.
